How to get the most out of Sylva’s coaches

It can seem daunting to start chatting with an AI coach, but you’ll soon get the hang of it and start reaping the benefits!

Our AI coaches are designed to provide you with instant, personalised support when you need it most. Think of them as having expert guidance available 24/7, ready to help you navigate the unique challenges of supporting your neurodivergent child.

Set clear intentions for each conversation Before you start chatting, take a moment to think about what you're hoping to achieve. Are you looking for strategies to help with morning routines? Need advice on communicating with your child's school? Or perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed and need emotional support? The clearer you are about your goals, the more targeted and helpful the responses will be.

Share specific details about your situation The more context you provide, the better your AI coach can tailor advice to your unique circumstances. By taking tests, Sylva will already know your child's age and any known neurodivergent traits as well as specific behaviours or challenges you're facing. But you can get more customised advice by adding into the chat things like -

  • What you've already tried and how it worked

  • Your family's particular circumstances (siblings, work schedules, etc.)

Be honest about your emotional state If you're feeling stressed, exhausted, or overwhelmed, say so. Our AI coaches are trained to provide appropriate emotional support alongside practical strategies. There's no judgement here – 74% of SEND parents report significant stress, so you're definitely not alone.

Ask follow-up questions Don't hesitate to dig deeper. If a suggested strategy isn't clear, ask for examples. If you're worried about how something might work in your specific situation, explore it further. The conversation can evolve based on your needs.

Request practical next steps End conversations by asking for clear, actionable steps you can take right away. Whether it's a specific phrase to use with your child or a template email for school, concrete next steps help you move from understanding to action.

Keep notes of what works When you find strategies that help, make a note of them. You can refer back to successful approaches in future conversations, helping your AI coach understand what works best for your family.
